Subject: iNotes users get error on SOME msgs with attachments but can open okay in client
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: iNotes - Full mode
Technical Area: Error Message
Platform: System i (iSeries/i5OS)
Release: 8.5.2
Reproducible: Intermittent

Some iNotes users are sometimes getting error messages when trying to open a message with a common attachment (.pdf, .doc, .xls, etc.) This is an intermittent problem that can't be reproduced on demand. Error is either "Error encountered while retrieving data: invalid character" or "Invalid character: Unterminated string constant". I've worked with Lotus and they told me it was a Symantec problem. Symantec told me to stop scanning those types of attachments so I made that change. Since Symantec isn't scanning those types of attachments, I'm back to thinking it is a Lotus problem. I have a PMR open but there hasn't been a solution yet and this has been well over a month. Domino and Notes 8.5.2. Sender is using Notes 8.5.2 client, recipients are using iNotes. It is not the computer as I can access user's mail via iNotes on my PC and get the same error as they do on their computers. Has anyone else come across this and have a solution?
